The California Scottish Rite Foundation was started in June 1958 with the primary purpose being to award Fellowships to deserving students attending the George Washington University School of Government to prepare for careers with the State Department.
Four Fellowships were awarded in January 1959.
The Childhood Language Centers started in September 1962 with the Stanford University Institute for Childhood Aphasia under the direction of Dr. Jon Eisenson.
From that beginning, 14 locations have been started to provide facilities for Childhood Language Centers in California.
In 1969, President Clausen initiated the Great American Values Program.
In association with the University of the Pacific, a program in Social Ethics dealing with Fundamental Freedoms and Values was started. During this time, the Supreme Council booklet - Dynamic Freedoms - was distributed to the Public Schools.
President Lemons was a visionary and recognized that illicit drugs were endangering our youth. He initiated the Anti-Drug Program in 1992 in association with local police departments to educate the public about the use of dangerous drugs. The program continued until 1999 with thousands of our youth being made aware of the hazards of illegal drugs.
